October 10-11, 2008 – “Enjoy Life”
We are celebrating the 10th year of Senior Expo Utah. What started as an event with 1,500 Attendees now has an average number of 7,000 to 8,000 individuals availing themselves of health screenings and a sales free atmosphere with representatives of local companies who offer resources and services. Last year over 1,000 individuals were discovered with skin cancer at the Dermatology Research Center screening booth – just one of the many free health screenings available. |
Through a unique collaboration with local hospitals; health care providers; private sector companies; non-profit and local, state, and national government organizations; and institutions of higher education Salt Lake County is able offer the experience of the Senior Expo. Older adults, family members, and caregivers have an opportunity to obtain a variety of free/low cost health screenings and learn about community and private sector resources.
Because of the generous contribution of sponsors, the County is able to offer this two day event with no admission cost to attendees. Sponsor contributions also allow 35 non-profit organizations to participate at a minimal cost so they are able to inform the public about resources and how to access services.
For the private sector the Senior Expo offers the opportunity to meet individuals and explain the services their company offers older adults, family members and caregivers. Participants are able to ask questions and understand better the many private sector resources and services available to them. (Sales free event.) | |
